About Me
I remember telling people in the 8th grade that I wanted to pursue a career in counseling and that desire only grew stronger over time. I have always been interested in the potential of people to grow in the face of adversity and that interest helped to spark my own journey towards healing.
Part of my process included exploring complex feelings around my past, including some difficult core beliefs. Doing this work was challenging but worthwhile and my therapist was paramount in helping me consider alternative perspectives.
As a therapist, I am interested in making space for others in a way that helps them to feel heard and understood. If you're new to the therapy process, it can be a bit intimidating. I aim to make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible. This is your time and I want to make sure that is always respected and kept at the forefront. I use various styles of therapy (and you can find a list below) but essentially, I am just focused on seeing what does and doesn't work for you.
I graduated with my Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Social Work in 2011 and I graudated Summa Cum Laude from both institutions. I gained my Clinical licensure in 2016, enabling me to practice clinical therapy with clients. I have worked in various settings and with various populations and before embarking on my own private practice, I practiced therapy with cancer patients and families, medical students, resident and fellow physicians, and members of my community who have grappled with anxiety, depression, and trauma.
In my downtime, you can find me playing board games, reading memoirs and novels and psychology books, listening to podcasts, perusing garage sales, and playing Overcooked with my family. I enjoy trying my hand at making music and if I can talk friends into having a chips and salsa outing, I will. I have a very kind, loving son along with a Chiweenie (dog) and a Ragdoll (cat); sometimes the dog or cat may make a Zoom appearance.
I believe life is best lived with humor, openness, and flexibility and my top values are empathy, connection, authenticity, kindness, and curiosity.
Whoever you are and wherever you are in your journey, I would love to have the chance to work with you. Feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss how we could work towards your goals.
